When my daughter was diagnosed with Epilepsy at age 20, trying anything other than conventional medication was not even a consideration.
It took almost two years, five different doctors, four hospitals in three different states just to get her diagnosed. By The time she was diagnosed, there was already frontal left lobe brain damage.
At this point she had gone from being a 4.0 college student, living on her own and having a job, to living back home barely functioning. She never went more than two days without a seizure even though she was doped up on so much prescription medication that some days she couldn’t even remember her birth date. Almost one year from the diagnosis, with still no real effective treatment plan in place, my daughter came to me and suggested that she try cannabis and CBD to help relieve her seizures. I literally laughed out loud and refused to even listen to it. She simply smiled and said ok. She’s hard-headed just like me, so I should have known she would do what she felt was right.
A little over two months later we ended up in the emergency room. She’d had her first seizure in almost two months and I was convinced her meds were finally working. At the hospital they checked her blood levels, this shows how much of her medication is in her system so they know how to treat her better. As I was sitting next to her bed in the ER the Doctor came in and said “Is there something you want to tell us?” You see her levels came back as zero; there was no medication in her system. She looked at me with tears in her eyes and said “I haven’t been taking my medication because I’ve been taking a Full Spectrum Cannabis Tincture and it’s been working. The only reason I had a seizure is that I couldn’t afford to buy any more.”
At this point, I knew that all of this time I thought her meds had actually been working. It had been cannabis that had given her back her sparkle. I saw life in those baby blues for the first time in almost 2 years. This was the biggest game-changer of my entire life!
Each and every seizure could be deadly and the neurologist's approach was slow and methodical and obviously not working. Cannabis saved my child's life.
Since that moment in the ER, my life has changed completely. I am dedicated to educating myself on the medicinal properties of Hemp and Cannabis. Staying up on the ever-changing policies that regulate it and making a difference when and wherever I can.
Along with my daughter and SeKaya CBD, we are helping children with uncontrollable seizures. Not only by educating parents, but also by making sure they have what they need and someone they can lean on that understands what they are going through.
I want everyone to know that my daughter regained all of her memory and is one of the smartest people I know. She is still completely off of all prescription medications and is doing fantastic! She even had a beautiful baby girl and very rarely has seizures as long as she has her tincture.
Let me just say that ignorance is not bliss…. it's simply ignorance. Like most of the country, I didn't believe that Cannabis could help epilepsy, or that it had any actual medicinal properties. It's true that when you know better you do better! Thus, I will continue to learn, advocate and educate as many as possible about the miracle plant that gave my child back her life.

Her daughter is currently using a 2,000mg Broad Spectrum CBD tincture. She takes a total of 66.66mg of CBD per day via two doses. One in the morning and one in the evening. She is careful to wait at least two hours between taking prescription medication and her CBD treatments. Consult your physician before adding Cannabis and Hemp products to your protocol.
