The past seven years, through Clark College’s community education programing, Cannabis Patients PNW (CPPNW) has taught a bi-annual 10-hour course “The Emerging Science of Medical Cannabis.”

The curriculum describes the endocannabinoid system, the concept of endocannabinoid deficiency, physiological effects of cannabis, forms of consumption, a review of current research, and how to obtain a state medical card by engage medical providers in a conversation about cannabis.

The success of this curriculum at Clark College demonstrates the public interest in the topic of cannabis. The class, taught in the lifelong learning program, presents cannabis in the context of complementary medicine and as part of an anti-inflammatory lifestyle. Using a holistic integrated medicine model normalizes the discussion of the body’s endocannabinoid system and helps educate the public.

Both THC and CBD have great therapeutic potential in the management of acute and chronic health conditions, as well as being a part of a prevention wellness strategy.

In addition to community college courses, CPPNW offers guided dispensary visits, educational blog posts on medical cannabis, talks on cannabis for local patient support groups, and education for home growers.

CPPNW a 501(c)(3) health education organization provides education to health care providers, professional organizations, the legal profession, and the public at large about medical cannabis, the laws, and its potential value in holistic integrated medicine.
